Welcome Back to School!


The Freedom Regional Library is the first of its kind in the PLCMC system. This joint venture with Charlotte Mecklenburg School System allows students and patrons from the Freedom Drive and surrounding community’s access to all of the electronic and print resources available throughout the system. Freedom Regional Library offers an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction materials for children, young adults and adults. This 20, 000 square foot facility houses a Popular Library of current and classic DVD’s, music CD’s, videos, books on tape, and rentals of bestsellers. In the Family Center there are literacy and ESL (English as a Second Language) aids available for children and adults.
The Teen Center, located on the first floor of the library, serves as a nucleus for academic, social and cultural development catered to the needs of young adults. The Teen Center encompasses a versatile study area suitable for individual and group study, as well as, teen meeting and book clubs. There are two separate seating areas for quiet reading of popular young adult titles, including graphic novels, in a relaxing atmosphere. The four computer stations accommodate the technological needs of teens giving access to the public library’s vast database of online resources and homework-help tools. The in-house Teen Program Coordinator offers programs and volunteer opportunities for young adult patrons ages 12-18. Please view the program calendar for current and upcoming events
The Children Services department provides special programs including storytelling and crafts for children, day care centers and schools in the area. The Children’s Library features award-winning current and classic titles in print and audio versions. There is also a wide selection of videos, DVD’S and CD-ROM’s for children in this area. There are designated areas available for studying and storytelling. A children’s computer area offers computer software designed for learning and recreation.   • The two Computer Labs have new technology that connects the community to the new computer oriented century. The library offers computer training classes which covers several levels of skill development. Access to online reference resources provides efficient homework help for students of all ages.

  • More than 80 PC’s for public use

Hey, it's me Jurhandi here at Freedom Regional Library. We are getting ready for a wonderful school year and we are hoping that the community will come out and utilize the resources that we have here at Freedom, as well as the resources in the whole PLCMC system.
