Gingerbread House Fun at FRL

What do you get when you mix graham crackers, marshmallow whip, little candies and empty milk cartons with preschoolers and senior citizens? A whole lot of fun! Freedom Regional Library hosted a gingerbread house competition on Wednesday, 11/29 with 27 people in attendance. The intergenerational program was a great success as young children and seniors worked side by side to construct their gingerbread houses. The construction materials were sampled and quality controlled to the delight of both young and old. Dot Siler, Tracy Creech, and Annette Foster-Grier organized the event with Vanessa Ramseur and Kwashawn Berry lending a helping hand to the attendees as well. Dot Siler worked extremely hard to secure the materials through generous donations from area businesses including Harris Teeter and Walmart.
